Mahon Abbey House — ABBEYMAHON

Detached five-bay two-storey with dormer attic country house, built c.1780, having historic two-bay two-storey lean-to and single-storey lean-to additions to side (south-east) and three-bay former coach house to side (north-west). Cat slide roof to rear (south-west) with projecting hipped roof stairwell dormer flanked by half dormer windows. Pitched slate roof having rendered eaves course, coursed red brick chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls. Square-headed window openings having tooled limestone and rendered sills, with two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows to front elevation. Timber casement and replacement three-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows elsewhere. Round-headed stairwell window opening with stone sill to stairwell dormer, having fixed multiple-pane window. Round-headed door opening within timber doorcase to front elevation, having engaged Doric columns surmounted by pedimented canopy with carved bargeboards. Timber panelled door with limestone stepped approach, surmounted by fanlight. Square-headed door opening having pedimented timber canopy on timber supports to rear elevation, having timber panelled door. Attached three-bay two-storey former coach house to side (north-west), having recent two-bay single-storey addition to side (south-east) having rendered stepped first floor access to rear. Recently renovated, having pitched slate roof with cast-iron rainwater goods and rooflights. Exposed limestone rubble walls having limestone rubble eaves course. Round-headed window openings within former arches, having stone sills, recessed rubble limestone surrounds and voussoirs with timber casement windows. Square-headed window openings with render sills and timber casement windows. Located within own grounds
