Detached multiple-bay double-height and two-storey former brewery complex, built 1807, comprising four ranges arranged around central rectangular-plan courtyard. Seven bay addition with later single-bay extension to side (west) and later additions with substantial red brick chimneystacks to side (east). Southern range comprising five two-bay two-storey over basement apartments, having re-built four-bay section to east with integral carriage arch. Flanked by gable-fronted ranges to east and west, with lean-to corrugated-iron canopy to eastern range. Fourteen-bay double-height range to north bounded by river to north having recent concrete bridge giving access to entrance. Northern range currently vacant. Numerous recent additions to interior of courtyard, concentrated to south and west. Replacement pitched slate and artificial slate roofs throughout, having timber clad eaves, uPVC rainwater goods and recent rooflights. Roof line to northern range raised by approximately one metre. Recent glazed monitor to western range. Substantial English bond red brick chimneystacks to north-eastern additions, having cornices and wrought-iron finials to corners. Red brick banding to northern example. Sandstone date plaque to southern example, dated 1915. Recent dormer window to rear (north) elevation of north-eastern addition, having timber bargeboards and replacement multiple-pane window. Rubble stone walls throughout, partially reconstructed in sections, having several cast-iron and steel bracing plates to eastern range. Rendered walls to recent additions and to south elevation of northern range. White-washed rubble stone walls to north-western additions. Square and camber-headed window openings with stone and rendered sills throughout, having dressed rubble stone voussoirs and occasional concrete lintels, red brick voussoirs and red brick block-and-start surrounds. uPVC and timber casement windows throughout. Numerous window openings throughout complex blocked with rubble stone or boarded up. Camber-headed former loading bays to eastern range, having dressed stone voussoirs and battened timber doors, battened timber sliding door on cast-iron rail to east elevation example. Square- and camber-headed door openings throughout, having dressed stone and red brick voussoirs. Replacement timber battened, panelled timber and glazed timber doors. Located fronting directly onto street to south with river to west and north. Area to east of site over grown.
