Saint David's Catholic Church — Oilgate

Detached three-bay two-storey parochial house, extant 1840, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey projecting glazed porch to ground floor; single-bay two-storey side elevations. Hipped slate roof with pressed or rolled lead ridges, paired rendered central chimney stacks having stepped capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta tapered pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on "Acanthus"-detailed beaded cornice retaining cast-iron octagonal or ogee hoppers and downpipes. Rendered, ruled and lined walls with rusticated rendered quoins to corners supporting rendered band to eaves; slate hung surface finish to side (west) elevation. Segmental-headed central door opening with cut-granite threshold, timber doorcase with engaged Corinthian columns supporting hood moulding on blind frieze, and concealed dressings framing timber panelled double doors having overlight with splayed sidelights. Square-headed flanking window openings with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings framing eight-over-eight timber sash windows without horns having overlights. Square-headed window openings (remainder) with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings framing eight-over-eight timber sash windows without horns. Interior including (ground floor): central hall retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors, and plasterwork cornice to ceiling; and carved timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled shutters. Set in landscaped grounds shared with Saint David's Catholic Church.
