Coolnastudd House

Detached three- or five-bay two-storey farmhouse, extant 1814, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey flat-roofed projecting porch to ground floor; four-bay two-storey rear (south) elevation. Extended, pre-1901, producing present composition. Occupied, 1911. Sold, 1945. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles terminating in red brick Running bond (east) or rendered (west) chimney stacks having corbelled stepped stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta tapered pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Part creeper- or ivy-covered rendered, ruled and lined walls. Square-headed central window opening (ground floor) with cut-granite sill, timber mullions, and concealed dressings framing two-over-two timber sash window having one-over-one sidelights. Square-headed opposing door openings with cut-granite thresholds, and concealed dressings framing timber panelled doors. Square-headed window openings in tripartite arrangement with cut-granite sills, timber mullions, and concealed dressings framing eight-over-eight timber sash windows having two-over-two sidelights. Paired square-headed window openings (first floor) centred on square-headed window opening with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings framing two-over-two timber sash windows. Square-headed window openings to rear (south) elevation with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings framing two-over-two timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): central hall retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors; and carved timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Set in landscaped grounds.
