Plattinstown House

Detached four-bay single-storey house with half-dormer attic, built 1858, on a T-shaped plan originally three-bay single-storey centred on single-bay single-storey gabled projecting porch. Occupied, 1901; 1911. Sold, 1968. Pitched slate roof including gablets to window openings to half-dormer attic centred on pitched (gabled) slate roof (porch), clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks having stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on slightly overhanging eaves having timber consoles retaining cast-iron downpipes. Part creeper- or ivy-covered rendered, ruled and lined walls with rusticated rendered quoins to corners. Square-headed window opening in bipartite arrangement (porch) with timber mullion, and concealed dressings framing four-over-four timber sash windows. Square-headed door openings ("cheeks") with concealed dressings framing glazed timber panelled doors. Square-headed window openings in bipartite arrangement with cut-granite sills, timber mullions, and concealed dressings framing four-over-four timber sash windows. Set in landscaped grounds with cast-iron panelled piers to perimeter having finial-topped capping.
