Bayview House — Shore Road

Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1800. L-plan, two-storey return to west elevation set in internal angle, single-storey block to south. Pitched slate roofs, roll-top clay ridge tiles, painted smooth rendered corbelled chimneystacks, cast-iron gutters on painted smooth rendered eaves corbel course, cast-iron downpipes. Painted ruled-and-lined smooth rendered walling, block-and-start quoins to east elevation; smooth rendered walling to west. Square-headed window openings, block-and-start rendered jambs with flat-arched lintels (east), smooth rendered reveals, painted stone sills, painted timber sliding sash windows, tripartite to ground floor with six-over-six flanked by two-over-two panes, four-over-eight sliding sash windows to first floor, six-over-six sliding sash windows to west with exposed sliding sash cases; round-headed window to return, painted smooth rendered surround, painted two-over-two timber sliding sash window with horizontal glazing bars, stained glass margin lights. Elliptical-headed door opening, block-and-start rendered jambs and archivolt, moulded render architrave, painted timber sidelights with painted stone sills, sunbeam fanlight, painted timber raised-and-fielded ten-panel door, brass door furniture. Set in own grounds, garden to east and west, white-washed outbuilding to west with external flight of stone steps leading to loft door, central path leading from painted rendered circular piers with pyramidal caps and ball finials, painted wrought-iron gates, smooth rendered quadrant walls with saddle-coping, view of sea to east.
