Lodgepark House — LODGE DEMESNE EAST

Farmyard complex, c.1825, about a courtyard including: (i) Detached three-bay two-storey steward's house. Now in use as outbuilding. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, and iron rainwater goods on roughcast eaves. Unpainted roughcast walls. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, cut-limestone surrounds to ground floor having keystones, and timber fittings. Square-headed door opening with cut-limestone surround having keystone, and timber panelled door. Set back from road in grounds shared with Lodgepark House with unpainted roughcast boundary wall to courtyard having squared limestone 'battlemented' coping, camber-headed carriageway with dressed limestone piers, cut-limestone voussoirs, iron double gates, square-headed flanking pedestrian gateway with cut-limestone surround having keystone, and iron gate. (ii) Detached five-bay single-storey stable outbuilding. Pitched slate roof (continuing as lean-to canopy over openings) with clay ridge tiles, and iron rainwater goods on overhanging eaves. Unpainted roughcast walls. Square-headed door openings with replacement tongue-and-groove timber panelled half-doors, c.1975. (iii) Attached single-bay two-storey pavilion on a square plan. Pyramidal slate roof with clay ridge tiles, and iron rainwater goods on cut-limestone eaves. Coursed cut-limestone walls. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and fittings not visible. Square-headed door opening with fitting not visible. (iv) Detached six-bay single-storey lean-to stable outbuilding. Lean-to slate roof with iron rainwater goods on cut-limestone eaves. Coursed cut-limestone walls with chamfer to corner, and unpainted roughcast walls to side elevations. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills (now boarded-up). Square-headed door openings with timber boarded doors. (v) Detached five-bay two-storey outbuilding with attic originally with series of five segmental-headed carriageways to ground floor. Renovated, c.1975, with carriageways remodelled to accommodate use as stable outbuilding. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, and cast-iron rainwater goods on cut-limestone eaves having iron brackets. Limestone ashlar walls with unpainted roughcast walls to side elevations. Square-headed window openings (some slit-style) with cut-limestone sills, cut-limestone surrounds (some having keystones), and timber fittings. Series of five segmental-headed carriageways remodelled, c.1975, forming camber-headed door openings with cut-limestone voussoirs, and timber boarded half-doors. (vi) Detached fourteen-bay two-storey outbuilding with camber-headed carriageway to right ground floor. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, red brick Running bond chimney stack, and iron rainwater goods on roughcast eaves. Unpainted roughcast walls. Square-headed window openings (most slit-style) with cut-limestone sills, some having cut-limestone surrounds with keystones, and timber fittings. Camber-headed carriageway to right ground floor with cut-limestone voussoirs, and replacement corrugated-iron rolling door, c.1975.
