T. E. Lawrence, also known as Lawrence of Arabia, was a British military officer and writer renowned for his role in coordinating Arab revolts against the Ottoman Empire during World War I; he later lived discreetly at Calshot as Aircraftsman Shaw from 1929 to 1931.
