Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Sgailler Mhor, Uig, Lewis as Cairn (modern). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

A Neolithic chambered cairn; dates to the late 4th to early 3rd millennium BCE. It is significant as part of a dense concentration of Neolithic monuments in the Uig area, reflecting the region's importance in early prehistoric settlement and ritual activity in the Outer Hebrides.
