What is recorded here

In pasture, on a S-facing slope of the Ox Mountains. According to local information, levelled c. 1980 and not now visible at ground level. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as small circular enclosure (diam. c. 15m) with five trees planted at regular intervals outside its perimeter. Indicated on the 1914 OS 6-inch map as a roughly D-shaped enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
