STANDING STONE in Mullane

STANDING STONE

What is recorded here

Mullane holds one standing stone, old enough to predate every human claim of ownership. It rises without apology, unsteady only when watched for too long. The woman who lived beside it stopped measuring distance in miles and began measuring it in the number of times she walked past the stone and returned changed. That much is story, not fact. The stone itself remains clear: a marker set before memory, still marking.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
