Mullaghboy holds a cross-slab on the north edge of a slight basin in County Meath, traditionally tied to a croppy’s grave. That much is clear. Whether the stone marks one defiant farmer or a whole buried resistance, the land has kept the shape of the loss while forgetting the name.
