Grave Yard

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Grave Yard holds the ruined nave of St. Nicholas' church inside a rectangular banked enclosure about fifty metres long. The graveslab still lies within that broken church space, while the cross may have stood across the road in Milltown townland before disappearing from local notice. A level landscape surrounds the place, making its ancient edges and lost marker easy to overlook until dusk sharpens the memory of what the stones once served.
Located in a level landscape. The remains of St. Nicholas' church (ME025-005----) are within a rectangular graveyard (dims c. 50m NW-SE; c. 40m NE-SW) defined by earthen banks with outer masonry walls or facings. The graveslab (ME025-005002-) is in the nave, and the cross (ME025-005003-) is across the road to the SE in Milltown townland but was not noted in 2014.
