Why this matters

A Neolithic passage tomb; significant as an early example of megalithic funerary architecture in the region.

What is recorded here

In improved pasture 155m E of a stream that marks the townland boundary with Ballyarthur and the County boundary with Cork. Not depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a roughly circular-shaped mound (diam. c. 12m) defined by a fosse. Visible as a raised mound on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages where it is intersected at E by a field track running NW-SE.
