Tor Castle stands as a ruined fortress near Fort William, built atop an Iron Age fort said by local story to belong to Banquo. Clan Chattan first occupied the site in the eleventh century, but Clan Cameron later seized it and rebuilt it in 1530 after decades of feud and shifting allegiance. The stones still mark a boundary between old claims and new power, while the land around it keeps the names of cats, walks and houses that no longer exist.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Tor Castle as Natural Feature (period Unknown). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
