Why this matters
Stag Rocks is a sea cliff or coastal rock feature composed primarily of Old Red Sandstone, formed during the Devonian period around 400 to 360 million years ago through sedimentary deposition. It is notable for its exposure of ancient terrestrial and shallow marine sediments, typical of the geological formations found in northern Scotland.
