What is recorded here
Brodie Castle Policies is an 18th-century estate and formal garden in Moray, Scotland, where a small two-storey bothy still touches the northwest garden wall. The building has one gable window facing the garden, a lean-to shed on the northeast, and a missing southwest structure that may have been a vinery. It is not clear whether the policies remain closed, partly forgotten, or quietly tended behind that old wall.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Brodie Castle Policies as Estate (18th Century), Formal Garden(s) (18th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Brodie Castle, located in the Scottish Highlands, was primarily built and held by the Brodie family, a prominent Clan in the area, with significant construction phases occurring in the 16th and 18th centuries. The castle and its policies are historically important as they reflect the power and influence of the Brodie clan during the development of the Scottish estate system.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
