What is recorded here

Sparrow Castle stands in Alves, Moray, as a south-facing two-storey house dated 1776, its ashlar margins and roll-moulded jambs still sharp against the harled wall. The building wears its Post Medieval age openly, with later single-storey wings set back from the main block and a modern porch breaking the ancient rhythm. It is not a ruined castle but a living house, listed since 1989, where sparrows may still wheel above the slate roofs while people argue about whose kitchen smelt of bacon that morning.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Sparrow Castle as Enclosure (period Unassigned), Ring Ditch (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
