This blue commemorative plaque records: Tŷ Mawr y Castell Gorffenwyd yr adeilad gan drydydd Ardalydd Caerwrangon yn 1673. Am amser byr yn y 18fed ganrif cynhelid y Brawdlys yma, hyd nes ei symyd i'r Neuadd Sir newydd yn 1725. Ers canol y 19eg ganrif mae wedi bod yn bencadlys i RMRE (Milisia). Recorded plaque organisation: Monmouth Civic Society.
The Duke of Beaufort commissioned Great Castle House in 1673; it later served as a meeting place for the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers militia from the mid-19th century.
