What is recorded here
Morganreigh, the largest chambered tomb in Monavreece, stands at the head of a narrow bay where the land narrows into water. Its long cairn still holds the shape of repeated burial, though no longer the names of the dead. The chamber inside is small compared to the mound above it, as if the living built greatness around a room barely large enough for one person to stand upright.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as COUNTERSCARP RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
