Monasteranenagh Abbey kept its dead inside the ruined walls rather than beside them. Local families buried their own within the structure from the 1700s onward, leaving 18th and 19th century headstones visible among the stones. The graveyard is not a separate field but the abbey itself, its chambers converted into rooms for the deceased.

Graveyard belonging to Monasteranenagh Abbey (LI031-050004-) which is annotated 'Grave Yard' and shown located inside the abbey ruins. The interior of the abbey was used as a burial place for local families in the post-1700 period. Headstones dating from the 18th/19th century are visible inside the abbey ruins.
