Indicated is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland, where a small artificial island may have risen from shallow water to give people dry ground, a hearth and a place to watch the horizon. The name gives no further shape, but the form is clear enough: a made island in a liquid world, perhaps built with soil, stone and patience when the land around it flooded or changed. It may have been a home, a shrine, a trap for fish or a temporary refuge, and that uncertainty does not weaken it. A crannog is still an act of imagination made visible, because someone believed the water could be shaped without stopping it being water.
