Barrow — ring-barrow in Moandoherdagh

Barrow — ring-barrow

Why this matters

A ring-barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age, associated with burial practices and territorial markers of the period. Its internal fosse and cropmark visibility suggest possible ritual or defensive functions.

What is recorded here

In wet undulating hummocky terrain with a river flowing c. 90m to the SW, in pasture. A circular enclosure (diam. c. 10m), which appears to have an internal fosse, visible as a cropmark on satellite imagery (Google Earth satellite imagery, 18 November 2018), identified and reported by Jean-Charles Caillère. Its size and morphology suggest that this is a possible ring-barrow.
