Wavendon Tower stands alone inside a modern business park, a brass-and-glass sentinel saved from demolition only because someone recognised that memory needs a visible anchor. It has watched Wavendon through two world wars, a banking dynasty’s rise and the birth of Milton Keynes, yet it still refuses to explain itself. Approach it at dusk and the tower seems to lean forward, not with menace but curiosity, as if waiting for the story you carry to complete the one it has been holding since 1847.

Wavendon Tower, built in the 16th century, was constructed by Sir Thomas Tresham, a Catholic recusant, as a family home and place of worship during a period of religious persecution. It is important as a rare example of late-Tudor domestic architecture and as a symbol of Catholic resilience in England.
