What is recorded here
Graveslab in Millockstown marks the oldest dated burial at the church, carved in 1682 for William and Sara Orson. That much is clear. The harder part is imagining the life that ended so suddenly it needed stone instead of memory. Perhaps they were young, perhaps locals, perhaps the church itself was new when they died. The slab does not say. It only refuses to let them disappear completely.
The earliest dated graveslab noted at Millockstown church (LH017-028001-) is 1682 and was erected for William and Sara Orson (MacIvor 1952, 259).
