Fala Luggie is a medieval tower house near Gorebridge, Midlothian, where only a thick southeast wall still stands above the ground. The Douglases, Murrays and Hamiltons all held the place, while local story claims it began as a royal hunting lodge or even a Roman look-out on the old road into Scotland. Queen Mary may have slept nearby at Cakemuir after fleeing Borthwick, giving the ruin a royal edge. Today the remaining wall faces the Pentlands and Arthur Seat, preserving a view rather than a complete building.
