Catcune Castle was a medieval L-plan tower house built by the Sinclairs on a rock outcrop south of Gorebridge. Its main block measured 44 feet by 25 feet, with three vaulted cellars beneath the ground floor. By 1975 the stones had vanished entirely into a pasture field, leaving only the memory of a home that once defied the Scottish sky.
