What is recorded here
Located on the N side of an inlet, known as Bealanillan Port, on the E side of Inishbarnog Island. This midden was first noted in an eroding section face in 2003. It is visible as a layer (L 1.8m N–S; D 0.2-0.45m) of cockles, periwinkles, mussels, with occasional animal bones and small stones, in a matrix of loose, dark brown, sandy silt loam. It underlies topsoil, and overlies a sand layer.
