Listed as ‘Midden’ in the SMR (1992). Knowles (1900, 353) described items found in a small stretch of sandhills at Fanore. Two flint scrapers were found on the surface with a dozen small flint flakes in a black layer. Hammerstones were also found and a broken anvil stone along with several pieces of pottery and lumps of clay. Bones and teeth of red deer, cow and pig as well as shells of limpet, mussel, periwinkle and dog-whelk were also found. The precise location of these finds is unknown. Middens (CL001-019---- and CL001-021----) have been located in the area. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 18 November 2020
