Rathmeel

Rathmeel is a ringfort in Seeaghanbaun, County Mayo, where a bare or rounded earthwork still marks the ground despite centuries of farming, clearance and emigration. The name likely preserves that shape, while the surrounding townland holds hundreds of similar banks that local belief kept from the plough. Whatever family first lived inside its circle has vanished from formal memory, leaving only a visible line in the soil and a warning that Mayo still remembers what it was told not to erase.
