What is recorded here

Maulyarkane holds a rectangular stone two metres twenty-five high, leaning north on an east-west ridge above Sliabh Luachra. It faces the Paps of Dana and stands twenty-eight metres from another anomalous stone group. The shape is plain, but the setting is not; it is a marker visible from a distance, perhaps guiding people across open country or remembering an event no longer spoken.

In pasture, on top of an E-W ridge with views to the N and S over Sliabh Luachra and as far as the Paps of Dana to the S. This standing stone (dims. 1.2m x 0.65m; H 2.25m) is roughly rectangular in plan and elevation and orientated NE-SW. It leans slightly to the N. It was recorded in the 1930s as a 'gallán stone...near the public road' though the townland was incorrectly given as Mastergeeha (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry).
