What is recorded here

Indicated is a walled graveyard on a warm south-facing slope in Manorhamilton, holding graves from the 18th and 19th centuries beside the abandoned Protestant church. The church probably dates to the 17th century and stopped serving in 1783, leaving behind a quiet rectangle of memory rather than a bustling worship space. People may have chosen that sunny bank because it felt life-giving even in death, while the walls marked the boundary between the town and its dead.

Located on a S-facing hillslope within Manorhamilton town. The the old Protestant church of Manorhamilton, probably built in the 17th century and abandoned in 1783 (Faughnan 1943, file no. 131) is within a subrectangular graveyard (dims 40m N-S; 37m E-W) which is defined by masonry walls and contains 18th and 19th-century graves. Archaeological testing (02E1345) c. 40m to the E produced no related material (Read 2004).
