This blue commemorative plaque records: John Dalton (1766-1844). John Dalton Street was opened in 1846 by Manchester Corporation in honour of famous chemist, John Dalton, who in Manchester in 1803 announced the Atomic Theory which became the foundation of modern chemistry.
