Charles Edward Stuart, also known as "Bonnie Prince Charlie," was the pretender to the British throne and led the Jacobite rising of 1745 aiming to restore his father, James Francis Edward Stuart, to the monarchy; he is remembered for this uprising and its eventual defeat at Culloden.
