What is recorded here
Crannog islands are ancient lakeside homes, built of timber and tradition. If this is one, it stood in Mallybreen water long before maps existed. People may have lived there, raised children, and vanished without a trace. The lake keeps what it wants.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
