What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland. A crannog is an ancient lake dwelling, often built on timber piles or a small island. People may have lived there when lakes were busier and roads were rarer. The name sounds like a marker, as if the place still points back at the hand that first named it.
