Why this matters

Lisnamuck is a D-shaped early-medieval ringfort, likely dating to between the 6th and 10th centuries, characterized by a dry-stone enclosure with a vertical inner face and sloping outer face. Local tradition associates such sites with fairy folk, and "Lisnamuck" may derive from "Lios na Muc," meaning "Fort of the Boars," hinting at both historical and mythological significance.
