Why this matters

A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.

What is recorded here

At the base of an E-facing slope in pasture with good views to the N, E and S. This possible enclosure was discovered in 2013 during the course of a review of LIDAR data where it is visible as a low, subcircular raised area (diam. c. 60m) (pers. comm. Dr Steve Davis, UCD). The monument has been levelled but is barely visible as a low circular-shaped platform (diam. c. 55m N-S; c. 45m E-W), which is defined by a scarp (H c. 0.2m) with slight suggestions of a shallow external fosse (Wth c. 4m; D c. 0.1m). No other features are visible. It is visible as a cropmark on Bing Maps aerial photograph taken between 06-07 November 2011. The attached LIDAR image is uploaded courtesy of Dr Steve Davis.
