RATH in Lisnacreevy

Lisnacreevy in County Down contains a rath, an earthwork so old it belongs to the whole of recorded human life rather than one dated event. The official point sits at the centre of that buried shape, not at a house door or field boundary. A rath is a made place, likely built and reused by people whose names never reached us. It may have been a home, a boundary marker, a ritual site or a warning to strangers, and the earth still holds that choice.
