Fairy forts are often earthen ringforts, and this one in Lisfarrell still holds its circular shape despite centuries of pasture and weather. The low bank, broken fosse and eastern gap suggest a place where people lived, worked and left behind a shape the land still repeats. Whether human or fairy, the fort records that the edge between knowing and imagining can be as solid as earth.

On a gentle NNW-facing slope in pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 24.8m) enclosed by a much-denuded, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 5m; H 0.45m max.) with a largely infilled external fosse (Wth 3.3m). A break (Wth 1.8m) in the bank at E may mark the original entrance. A possible house site (LF014-081002-) was located within the SW quadrant of the interior. Compiled by: Patrick F.
