On an elevated area, in pasture, overlooked by higher ground to SW, W and NW. Depicted on all OS historic mapping and named ‘Lisduff Fort’ on the OS 25-inch and 1921 edition of the OS 6-inch map. A substantial sub-oval area (c. 35m NW-SE; c. 38m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (int. H 0.35m; ext. H 1.5m; Wth at top 0.8m; overall Wth 4.6m) SW-NW which is reduced to a low bank (int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.4m; Wth at top 1.7m; overall Wth 4.75m) NW-NNE. There is a wide gap (Wth 4m) NNE-NE. The monument is defined by a steep scarp (Wth 2m; H 1.1m) NE-SE, where the scarp becomes lower SE-SW. There is a possible fosse (Wth c. 4m; D c. 0.1m) W-NW which is choked with vegetation. Most of the enclosing elements and interior are densely overgrown with thorn trees, briars, rushes and ivy. Only small areas are accessible intermittently within the interior where there are cattle paths, many of which come to a dead end due to fallen trees. The interior has a gentle SE-facing slope and is poached by cattle, where seen. The following images have been uploaded: CL035-069----_01.jpg From W.
