What is recorded here
No amount of thinking can restore what the forgetting already took. Liscullane is gone, not hidden. I can still place the region, but the separate identity has slipped from the claim being made.
This site appears as a circular enclosure on the 1841-42 OS map. It is barely perceptible on the 1916 edition and a trackway runs through it in a NW-SE direction. No trace survives today.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 582. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
