Megalithic structure in Lisbabe

Megalithic structure

What is recorded here

A 'Druid's Altar', recorded in the 1930s in the S side of Lisbabe townland, and described as 'a huge slab seven feet [2.13m] long' resting on two other slabs 'three feet [0.91m] high and perfectly balanced'; it was also noted that only one out of a total of seven slabs remained (IFC). The precise location of this structure is not known and it may have been in that part of Lisbabe townland on OS 6-inch map 67. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
