What is recorded here

In cut-away bogland on an upland terrace on a ridge extending to the W from the 12 Bens mountain range with panoramic views all round, overlooking Roundstone bog and Árainn to the S, Clifden to the W and the mountains to the E. Recorded by M. Gibbons, this possible stone hut site (4.5m NE-SW; 3m NW-SE), roughly subrectangular in plan, is well defined on three of its four sides. The wall on the N side (H 0.25m; Wth 0.9m) curves and incorporates two large boulders in its external wall-face; a white quartz boulder is visible in the internal face. In the centre of the E and W walls (Wth 0.4-0.6m) stones at right angles to the walls appear to mark doorways. The S wall, which is not as clearly defined as the others, abuts outcropping rock and it appears to have been partially robbed out. The interior is level and possible traces of a roughly laid flag floor are visible. A cist (GA036-025----) lies c. 25m to the SW. The following images have been uploaded courtesy of M.
