This blue commemorative plaque records: John Deakin Heaton (1817-80) Eminent physician lived at Claremont, a Georgian merchant's villa, from 1856-80. He was a prime mover in the campaign for Leeds Town Hall, and played major roles in the development of Leeds General Infirmary and the Yorkshire College, later the University of Leeds.
