This stone commemorative plaque records: Ashton Memorial. The restoration of this building was made possible through the involvement and generosity of the European Regional Development Fund,English Heritage, The Dowager Countess Eleanor Peet Trust, Simon Towneley Esq. J.P. Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire and many others. Constructed 1906 - 1909 Restored 1985 - 1987 Recorded plaque organisation: City of Lancaster.
The Ashton Memorial is a Grade II* listed building constructed between 1906-1909 as a monument to Lady Alice Ashton; it was significantly restored from 1985-1987 with contributions from various trusts and institutions, including the European Regional Development Fund and English Heritage.
