Knocknacroagha holds a vanished megolithic structure, remembered only as a heap of stones like a Giant's Grave. O'Donovan wrote that description in 1838, but no visible surface trace remains beside Knocknacroagha now. The stones may have marked burial, boundary or ceremony before erosion, ploughing or taking removed them. What is certain is that the ground once carried a shape large enough to be compared with a giant, and that shape has disappeared from sight.
