What is recorded here

Reference to early structure here, pre 1773 (Bence, Jones 1978, 178). Described by Bence-Jones as 'A small house of ca 1773 with good neo-classical interior decoration built onto an earlier structure, Now demolished.' No visible surface remains of any dwelling pre 1773. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 17 December 2007
