Half a kilometre from theTrimoge River, a man-made cave cuts into the west-facing slope beside the graveyard. Large flat slabs, some as long as 1.7 metres, still protrude from the ground in a north-south line, perhaps the roof of a passage now collapsed or buried. The name Cave appeared on maps in 1838 and 1931, while Thorn vanished after the first survey, leaving the hole and its purpose withheld.

Located c. 50m to SE of graveyard (MA071-142002) on a W-facing slope on the E side of the Trimoge River valley. The Man-made underground passage appears to have been built into the rising slope. It is indicated as ‘Cave’ on the 1838 and 1931 OS 6-inch maps; a small feature shown immediately adjacent to it at E is named ‘Thorn’ on the 1838 map but is not indicated on the later edition. Inspected in 1988, a number of large flat slabs, partly sod-covered, were visible in a roughly L-shaped setting (6m N−S; 3m E−W) under two thorn trees. A subsequent inspection in 1997 found the massive prostrate slabs protruding from the ground surface in a roughly N−S line (L c. 7m). The three largest slabs measure as follows: L 1.7, Wth 1m, T 0.45m; L 1.25m, Wth 1.5m, T 0.25m; L 1.7m, Wth 1.1m, T 0.38m. The northern-most slab is separated from a second slab to S by a gap of c. 2m, and a gap of 2m separates the latter from the third slab around which there is cluster of large stones.
