Enclosure in Kilmorony — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Kilmorony is a curvilinear enclosure whose shadow still appears in summer crops, although ploughs have worn its edges into memory. Three modern field boundaries cut across the ancient line, suggesting that people have long preferred useful land to the shape of history. A motte and bailey castle stands 390m to the NE, perhaps watching the enclosure or merely sharing the same forgotten valley.

Aerial photograph (GB91.EB.30) shows cropmark of a curvilinear enclosure defined by a fosse. The aerial photographs were taken on 15 July 1991. The plough-levelled monument is cut across by three modern field boundaries. A motte and bailey castle (LA026-006-) is located 390m to the NE. The above report has been compiled by Dr. G. F.
